Local students Katrina Litchford and Elijah Ammen are the winners in the first annual Valley Character Essay Contest, in partnership with the Roanoke Athletic Club/Botetourt Athletic Club and the YMCA of the Roanoke Valley.
Each will receive a $500 scholarship to be used toward their college tuition next academic year.
The topic of the essays were: How is good fitness related to strong character values?
